Save The Thorold Arms
This is a Community website dedicated to saving The Thorold Arms in Marston, Lincolnshire. The Arms used to be a pub, shop, restaurant and bed & breakfast, before closing its doors in July 2015.
Marston is a small village located 7 miles North of Grantham and about 10 miles South of Newark, just a mile or so to the North East of the A1. It is very easily accessible by road and strategically located on the Viking Way long distance walk.
It is important for social cohesion that we don’t lose the pub and shop at the heart of our community. Isolation can be a curse especially in rural areas with poor transport links. A warm, friendly community meeting place is the heart of healthy rural communities. Our Pub and Shop is much missed and will hopefully re-open in the knowledge that its viability is underpinned by enthusiastic local support.
The Pub is in Marston on the corner of Main Street and School Lane and opposite Stonepit Lane.

As well as promoting the campaign to save the pub, we are also publishing and curating information about “saving your local pub”. So hopefully the site might be interesting to anyone concerned about their pub or shop closing down.
Some of this material is our own and some has been curated from other sources. We try to be good and cite all sources but nobody is perfect. So if we have made any mistakes please get in touch through the contact page and the problem will be remedied as soon as possible.
Most of all please spread the word and enjoy, share, like, link, tweet and everything else you can do to the content here on the website.
